Homemade Croutons


Who loves croutons?



Well for those who love that extra crunch to go with your salads and soups (or just to eat as a snack by themselves) this post is for you!  Croutons are basically toasted bread and used as a garnish for soups and people add them to salads as well.  I never understood why people buy them when they take literally minutes to make.

Read the easy steps below and make yummy flavored croutons in minutes!


STEP 1: Gather your ingredients

  • 1 loaf of Challah bread (or brioche)
  • 1/4 teaspoon mixed peppercorn
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • minced sage (optional)
  • tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese (optional) 


STEP 2: Preheat oven to 350F degrees.  Cut the bread into 3/4 inch dice pieces (cut off crust).



STEP 3: Take a bowl and toss/mix the croutons in the olive oil, garlic salt and mixed peppercorns.



STEP 4: Place croutons on baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes.






STEP 5: Add the grated Parmesan and minced sage to the croutons and toss together.
