Today’s blog post is something really cool I did and I think all the parents and/or people who interact with kids out there will enjoy this as well. Not sure if many of you know I am the mother to a busy little boy named, J’den, who turns 3 years old in May. I am constantly trying to think of new ways to teach him new things but make it fun & interesting.
Okay okay…it doesn’t sound too interesting but once you get started I promise you and your little one(s) will have fun. I started off simple with maybe some Vanilla Almond Milk, frozen blueberries and bananas along with some Spinach and just gradually incorporated more fruits, proteins, greens and natural sweeteners (such as Agave or Pure Honey) to the smoothies as he is getting older. If you’re an avid baker, like myself, then you should have an extensive collection of cookie cutters. I happened to have a number and letters set from Wilton.
All you need is a mini set of number and letter cutters along with some regular skewers. All you do it take some fruit, the cutters and start cutting out words, phrases or numbers and place them onto the skewers. Such as the pictures below.
Cool right? This is a fun and great way for kids to enjoy healthy snacks all while learning! Or this can be a great party idea for kids and adults. I love trying different types of smoothies. For this particular one I incorporated:
- Vanilla Almond Milk (unsweetened)
- Frozen fruit mixture (this time apples, bananas, and a bit of blueberries)
- A tablespoon of my homemade Nut Butter
- Grounded flax seeds
- 1-2 cups of Kale or Spinach
- Sometimes if I want a creamy texture I add a small avocado.
A natural sweetness should come from the fruits (frozen bananas and mangos seem to be the sweetest to me) however if that doesn’t satisfy your sweet tooth you can always use a natural sweetener. I choose to use Agave Nectar.
Cover the rim of your glass or cup with Agave.
After that I took the blended frozen blueberries I had used on my Gelatin Jello project and dipped the glass rim with honey into the blended berries.
Pour your smoothie into the glass. I topped mine with the leftover fruit infused whip cream I had made. Then I sprinkled more of the crushed blueberries on top.
The finishing touch is just adding the fruit skewer on top of the smoothie.
Come on you can’t tell me this isn’t cute right? I try to get my son to say the letter before he can eat it. Then I try to get him to say the letters or spell it on his own. Of course a toddler’s attention span isn’t the longest, however its still a great fun activity and treat!
sounds like so much fun!! will share this post with my sister who also has a toddler 🙂

Thank you! It’s a great idea my friend used them as name plates for a kids party. So many different ways to use this. Plus delicious. I sometimes use vegetables too 🙂
